More meetings

Yesterday was so much better! If anyone is praying for me, I am very grateful. I had Isaiah 40 v 31 as a notification on my phone:

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

and after that, and a decision to be determinedly friendly and less sensitive, yesterday - with effort - was one of the best days I've had since arriving in community.

We met with one of the high schools at which we will be running sessions with a youth group. All of our meetings this week are to find out what our students want to learn. So that was the aim of the meeting. So we sat in the grass/dirt on a school campus (at some point I'll take some photos of a school because they are all quite similar here but quite different to a UK school) and asked a list of prepared questions to a group of students from grade 12 (age 18).

On the way back we went through Kampong Chnang town and stopped at a bakery:

I got a cake with a layer of coconut on top. Cake in the way that a person from the UK would think of it is fairly rare here. It was very nice! And only 2500 riel, which comes to about 65p. I also got a box of Khmer cakes for my host family, which you can see on the right of the last photo. They were pretty good too - like harder pastry with what Channa called bean paste filling.

That's about as interesting as yesterday got.
This morning we had the morning off! So after a lie in, Channa and I went to Alex and Chealy's for lunch. I say a lie in, but what with the cockerels and the lizards and Sa's tantrum at 6.00 and the dogs and the speakers, I was up at the usual time. We got left at around 9.30 and then chilled at Alex's until 12.30, to be at the office at 1. Here's some photos of Alex's:

 So cute!
Alex in a hammock, and an ugly chicken. A lot of the chickens here are missing feathers. I don't know why.
 Lunch!

Then we went into the office and had some team review time, before we got tuk tuks to Kampong Chnang town for a meeting with a youth club. The tuk tuks can be terrifying - yesterday we narrowly missed some cows that had decided to cross the road. The drivers sometimes just go on their phones while they drive, and sometimes we get overtaken by lorries at speed. It's an adventure. There's rarely ever any road markings or signs. People just drive on the right and hope for the best.

Anyway, today's meeting was one of the best we've had. We had about 30 young people turn up and answer our questions about what they want to learn.

I'm about three people in on the left of the photo, in the back. The Khmer on our subteam have to do most of the work at these meetings and ours did a great job today (Heng and Boray) - they have to ask all the questions and get all the answers and make sure that we get the info we need. All we can do is help prep the questions in advance. Working across a language barrier!
Anyway, it was a successful meeting, and we met this puppy!-
So cute!

Then we went back to the office and did some summarising of the day, and then I phoned Mum for a bit, and then we went for a cycle to the rice fields to watch the sunset.

Then we cycled home and my host mum made chips for dinner! Yay!

Tomorrow is a day off, so we have a social in Kampong Chnang and some event in the evening.

I'm not going to get all of Sunday off this week, so would appreciate prayers.
